ABOUT THE 5/20 PROJECT

For God So Loved the World He Gave …

If God is love and his ultimate way of showing His Love is to give, then it only makes sense that giving is the tangible expression of love.

The Mission

A means to activate the tangible blessing of a $20 cash gift in real time to an individual who finds themselves in the moment of extreme financial stress.

The 5/20 Project gives all participants the opportunity to be stimulated into becoming an abundant, motivated giver.

Why 5 $20s

  • The number 5 symbolizes God's grace, goodness, and favor toward humanity.

  • The number 20 can also be a sign of spiritual growth and the need to welcome more spiritual meaning and practice into your life.

  • The number 100 represents “fullest potential.”

The $20 Gift

Understanding the value of a $20 gift, when all cash resources have been exhausted, can only be understood by one experiencing such a horrific dilemma—and then be given a tangible solution in that very moment. Such a blessing has proven to be sincerely appreciated and overwhelming!

Example

A mom rolls up to the gas pump with a bunch of kids in the car, and she pumps $5 into the tank. The Giver, observing the need, gives the mom a $20 bill, and says this a gift to you from Jesus. $20 really does make a difference to that mom in that moment. The Giver now has a story to share.

The 4 Pillers

The 5/20 Partners:

Those who contribute to the 5/20 Project clearly understand the biblical principles of giving and receiving. How it breaks our hearts to see so much suffering because of the social doctrine of taking rather than receiving. We who contribute to the 5/20 Project believe that we can be a significant part of a new paradigm shift, showing by example, how to “prime the well.” How exciting it is to hear the stories of those who have experienced the pump being primed and watching the water start flowing. Our God is so, so good!

The 5/20 Teaching:

Teaching and vetting go hand in hand. Using the gift of discernment, we teach one on one, or we are willing, by invitation, to share the 5/20 Project with your church or small group in person or by Zoom. All in-person teaching sessions include a field clinic resulting in a real-time experience of activating the principle of giving and receiving. Lives will be blessed; lives will be changed.

The 5/20 Giver:

A Giver is vetted and taught the biblical principles of giving and receiving. The Giver becomes a compassionate observer of individuals who find themselves in a financial crisis in the moment. The Giver will depend on Holy Spirit’s guidance to bless a Receiver with a $20 gift. Givers then share the experience with the 5/20 team and others, as led.

The 5/20 Receiver:

One who simply receives a $20 cash gift of compassion in real time with NO obligation.

The 5/20 Update

  • The 5/20 Project is now funded and prepared to begin putting its efforts into action.

  • The 5/20 Project 501c3 can now begin receiving donations.

  • There have been several invitations to share The 5/20 Project teaching.

  • Givers are now being recruited, vetted, and trained.

Our plan is to share The 5/20 Project with additional friends who have a passion for giving in Jesus’ name.

Closing Thoughts

Many Christ followers who have been blessed with solid family foundations, given positive role models, and have been taught and shown the biblical principles of giving, tend to be quite generous. Did you notice “taught and shown?”

In contrast, some believers who were born into generational poverty or have found themselves economically challenged and/or just uninformed of the positive side of being a giver, are living hand to mouth, taking, taking, taking, to stay fed and sheltered. We understand. It is clearly not for their lack of compassion. Responses are often heard, “I’d help if I could.” The 5/20 Project is simply an activation tool to teach and show these Jesus followers the principles of giving and receiving.
